The National Research Foundation SARChI Chair in the ‘Origins of Modern Human Behaviour’ is held by Professor C.S. Henshilwood. There is funding available in 2016 for one Masters (2 years) and one Doctoral (3 years) position based at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. The topic of your research must relate to the field of modern human origins and the Middle and Later Stone age in southern Africa, in the southern Cape. Sites focused on are Blombos Cave and Klipdrift Complex. Applicants must be South African citizens and the appointment entails that you reside in Johannesburg and carry out the bulk of your research at Wits University.
